Niceness can be an indication of low status, because you can quickly put yourself in a submissive position to appease others, and then people will subconsciously find it acceptable to not take you seriously. And women don't want guys who are nice to them immediately because it implies he's of a lower status than her, which in turn implies he is not a desirable mate. Women can't be attracted to a man if she's not intimidated by him in some shape or form.
