I think the bait and switch posts are unfunny and unoriginal, but you'd have to be a complete fucking moron to think they actually mean it

I mean I agree that on their own they aren’t particularly clever, but they’re purpose isn’t really as jokes that stand on their own merits but rather as a tool to shine a light on something else. With that purpose in mind they seem to be working exactly as intended.

I see what you're saying but I think they actually have to be good bait (i.e. clever) in order to accomplish any real purpose. And they need to used sparingly or else they go from triggering to eye-rolling.

Yeah I can definitely agree that they’ve been kinda overused, but I’m kinda on the fence about them needing to be more clever bait to make the intended point. In a way, I think that fact that they are such low effort bait and yet have still managed to snare some IT posters almost makes it more salient.
