"Many incel communities are characterized by resentment, misogyny, misanthropy, and racism.[1][9][22][15][24][23][31][32][16]"

I was curious about the "racism" part so I checked the sources:

  • Vox
  • The Globe and Mail
  • The Guardian (twice)
  • NBC News
  • Vice
  • USA Today
  • Fortune
  • New York Times

I actually checked the NYT article, because NYT is the only on that list that I could accuse of accidentally doing real journalism, and guess what? Not only it doesn't mention incels at all, it doesn't even mention misogynists.

...saying "women prefer white men" - ignoring how true that actually is for the moment - is not racism, if anything, it's sexism.

Sorry man, gonna need some original sources for that, not some out of context screen grab.

Alright, fair enough:

The graph comes from "Quartz", and was gathered using a Facebook dating app

https://qz.com/149342/the-uncomfortable-racial-preferences-revealed-by-online-dating/

This is a separate experiment conducted by OkCupid that closely reflects the data from the first:

https://theblog.okcupid.com/race-and-attraction-2009-2014-107dcbb4f060

Neither Quartz nor OkCupid are associated with incels, misogynists, or racists.

Do you honestly think that race plays 0 factor in physical attraction?

Dating apps aren't representative of the population, and these "studies" aren't scientific in the least. If all races were equally attracted to white people, there would be more interracial couples.

Dating apps aren't representative of the population

Dating sites might not represent the entire population since dating sites are often just being used for hookups, but if these same patterns exist in separate online groups, it must mean something about sexual attraction, no? You might say that sexual attraction is only one factor in a relationship among many, but I mean that's kind of what Incels are about.

Sexual attraction.

Are you saying the same pattern being found in multiple places is just a coincidence? (and I bet you I could pull similar data from other sites if I dug enough)

these "studies" aren't scientific in the least

Please elaborate. It's a pretty simple experiment, I don't see what could be so "unscientific" about it that it invalidates the entire study. I know it's not a spick and span university level research paper, but it's just data showing how much attention each person received based on race (or how races rated one another on attractiveness).

Plus, when journalists publish the data of experiments "for the masses", you know they'll usually just omit most "scientific" things because they know most people probably either don't care or don't understand them, right?

Also, the guy who conducted the second study (Christopher Rudder, cofounder of OkCupid) majored in mathematics at Harvard University, too, so he's not some hack statistician they pulled out of community college.

It comes down to selection bias. The kind of folks who sign up for these dating apps haven't been shown to be representative of the whole population or the average dating scene. It's not scientific because you can't justify generalizing the results. You can say it's compelling and warrants further study, but it's not enough to call facts.

You can say it's compelling and warrants further study, but it's not enough to call facts

Fair enough, I agree that it's not enough to call facts, that's pretty sensible. I feel that research of this nature still has some implications though.

Fair enough

It's really not. The guy who responded to you have hasn't posted a source of his own. He just basically said, "nah."

Dating apps aren't representative of the population, and these "studies" aren't scientific in the least.

Social science is never "scientific enough". What a weasly way of trying to discredit the claim.

Also, they're a damn sight better than your complete lack of "scientific studies" disproving it.

If all races were equally attracted to white people, there would be more interracial couples.

This is a complete non-sequitur. Try using actual logic next time.

Whites are inherently considered more attractive than other races. Fact. Just because you don't like it, doesn't stop it being true.

fact: we're more racially diverse than r/blackpeopletwitter, which is 96% white people

Lol what the fuck? I knew BPT is definitely white people LARPing but I didn’t think it was that lopsided

Citations needed.

I complained about it to them on the discussion page, there's one or two guys that basically control the page and they consider a study on incels: The Donnolly Study to not be citation worthy, but a bunch of opinions pieces to be citation worthy

Those wikipedia editors are disgusting pieces of shit and I hope they have a horrible life. Most people are better than them.

The Donnolly Study (which was a sample size of 82 btw) is indirectly cited at least, for the "Self-identified incels are primarily white[52]" part.

cuz it was a sample of internet users in the 90s aka white people, check out incels.me for their racial statistics of their users, about half non-white, more than the general population.

Just lol at normies citing MSM as a source

I get all my accurate unbiased news from mic and xojane

Wikipedia is a joke. Many of the sources are clickbait, some sources will just end up citing each other or worse, all cite a single dubious source.

incredible.

what in the fuck am i seeing?

In a word, propaganda.

Some incels are white suppremacists but no black incel feels offended by their comments. So nobody cares, we all know it's all about looks.

In a word, propaganda.
