I think this is false. Most men will still avoid close contact with women in the 0-3 range. But beyond that, they are certainly hardwired to be willing to settle with someone 2-3 points below their score, which women are not hardwired to do at all. But women also do not really aim at giga chad even though they obviously fancy him. They will realistically select someone 0-3 points above. The attraction criteria differ a lot though: Social standing, confidence, intelligence and wealth are much more important for women, looks somewhat less so. For men, looks are much more important and they find much higher intelligence, skills, wealth and social standing intimidating, and low social standing does not matter at all in most cases.
