Here is some logic, maybe women are naturally more empathetic so they choose professions that play into that. Most women have a motherly instinct that tends to spread to other aspects of their life, making them more compassionate and in tune with emotions.

The typical Introduction to psychology is almost always graded through 4 multiple choice scantron exams where the questions are taken straight from the textbook's accompanying powerpoints. Sophomore classes will throw in a 5-7 page term paper with a small number of non-refereed sources. Junior and senior classes will be pretty much midterm, final and research paper. The paper will be 7-12 pages max and only require 3-7 refereed sources. A typical social sciences major is only 12-16 credits in the major. The rest is all general education, required special college courses, and electives. People in STEM, as there are so many pre- and co-requisites for courses in the major, typically see their majors as comprising more courses than they formally do. The social sciences are easy. It's just a bunch of qualitative bullshit that sometimes pretends to be quantitative but really isn't.
