There are two reasons why short men still exist. 1) Short women passing down short genes.

2) Shortness is an asset during a famine. The body doesn't need as much resources if your a short framecel. Thus countries with historic ancient famines that lasted generations tend to have been naturally selected to be shorter and thinner of frame. (India?).

So I think it goes hand in hand. More nutrition = more resources to get taller = No selective pressure to be short = less genetically short people.
