Seconding this. I grew up with two cats. One of them died when I was 15 and I was inconsolable. The second one died a year later but I was less devastated because we had just adopted a kitten. It was like I was putting on a strong face for the new baby, and the kitten was doing a very good job of cheering me up.

Get a new one before the old one dies so you have a strong attachment to it already

And it’s true; a new dog does not replace the last one. But that’s not the way to think of it. All dogs are pretty unique. I mean most of them will tear shot ip from time to time or dig holes and bark at the mailman or whatever, but I’ve had multiple dogs of the same breed that were all different.

If one of my friends died, would I just say “oh well, I’m not making any new friends?” Of course not. There’s always room for another dog.

Outdoor cats statistically tend to die younger and have more medical problems. Honestly if I didn't live in a busy area I would probably let them enjoy but I'm too much of a spazz lol.

I personally have a cat proofed balcony so they get to enjoy some cat t.v. without any issues. We live on the second floor of a building so they get to see high up in the trees where all the birds and squirrels play.

Pets are gud. just chilling out and listening to podcasts with no women in them is nice. Playing some video games that are too autisticly complex for any woman to want to play. And I’ve decided that at the end of the day, before killing myself, I would at least try to change my life in some radical way like going to live in the wilderness or on top of a moumtain with monks or something. Might as well. I have nothing to lose
