I think physical attraction itself plays a big role in many kinds of relationships, so it's not only limited to flings, long term or romantic relationships. The other problem reddit has is that it makes people think that a small but vocal minority represents a large movement when it does not, so because of what was posted with no argument from other users on that board, that is the impression you gave the world. If you want to "vent" so nastily, do it in a less public place then "The front page of the internet" that you know has nasty people that spend all day looking for things that make them angry to complain about.
