I think not but I do think a lot of the younger less intelligent memers who became white nationalists because of YouTube videos and 4chan in the last like year are in a phase, joining a counter-culture because they don't fit in elsewhere and it makes them feel edgy. Certainly not all but at least a good amount.
This is pretty spot on. There was an AMA from an ex white supremacist where he explains why he started. When feeling lonely and even ostracized, it feels good being in a group that will curb stomp someone for you while also valuing you, even if its for hateful and misguided reasons.
