A lot of people have generalised anxiety that isn't necessarily related to any actual stresses in life. Being anxious about something doesn't mean you have an anxiety disorder, in the same way that you can be sad about something specific and not have clinical depression.
Regardless of whether you think men or women have it worse in terms of actual causes for anxiety, women are diagnosed more often with anxiety disorders. I believe it's the other way around with depression but I can't recall.
