It was months after IncelTears was founded that any action was taken against /incels by reddit admins, and only because the sub had gained enough notoriety around reddit to be targeted by the admins of the site. IncelTears was started in May 2017. Incels was banned in October. Sure, IT played a part, but incels wouldn't have been banned for hate speech and incitement of violence if there were no examples of it present. You can't fumble a grenade, get blown up by it and then point to someone who was laughing at you trying to pull pin and say the whole thing is their fault.
People sure as fuck care now, but are you surprised by that considering incels ended up plastered all over places like BBC News due to their violation of ToS and subsequent ban?

And when I say that incels, as a group, take zero responsibility for their situation it means that you're blaming forces entirely outside of your control without ever looking inward. There's a large element of defense of self there, which is completely understandable, but you have the flipside of the coin where incels say therapy simply won't work. If you rule out all possible avenues to improve your situation, which includes attending to your mental health, because you don't believe they will work, that is avoiding personal responsibility.
Off the top of my head, the only contemporary political movement I can think of that uses Holocaust analogies when there is no actual genocide or internment is the alt-right. I'm happy to hear more examples of people claiming they are the target of genocide where no is being killed though.
