How can brain cells cause tumours if they can't multiply?

Hi! I'm doing some research for my university work and was wondering about how brain cells are able to cause tumours despite the fact that they do not multiply. I'm studying chemistry so although biology is involved in my studies too, it's not my strong point.

I tried Googling but it was not so helpful.

Lurking normie on this sub. There's a lot going on in this question. First of all the brain is not only made up of neurons, so cancers from these cell groups maintain the ability to multiply. Second is that the reason brain cells don't multiply has to do with gene regulation - particularly those involving regulation of cell division. If these become disregulated it can cause uncontrolled cell division.

Feel free to pm me any more questions as this isn't the appropriate sub. I'm a med student with a particular interest in pediatric brain tumors.
